{"id":4964,"date":"2020-03-25T14:07:52","date_gmt":"2020-03-25T14:07:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/faster-h2020.eu\/?p=4964"},"modified":"2021-12-27T15:26:35","modified_gmt":"2021-12-27T15:26:35","slug":"training-the-young-minds-of-tunisia-on-the-effects-of-climate-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/faster-h2020.eu\/index.php\/2020\/03\/25\/training-the-young-minds-of-tunisia-on-the-effects-of-climate-change\/","title":{"rendered":"Training the young minds of Tunisia on the effects of climate change"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>&#x1f4c5; 7 March 2020<br>&#x1f4cd; Borj Touil region , Tunisia<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">As part of World Water Day, the FASTER team, in collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/LCENNASR\/\">Lions club Ennasr,<\/a>  organized an info day for pupils and young generation of the primary school of Chaker Neighborhood at Borj Touil region (Tunisia) to <strong>raise awareness on the importance of Water<\/strong> and its<strong> role to play in the Climate Change adaptation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nparticipants, pupils between 9 and 11 years old, were informed on the topic of\nwater and climate change and could then exchange with researchers from INRGREF\ninvolved in the FASTER project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main themes considered were <strong>water resources cycle<\/strong> and the <strong>climate change impacts<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 29%\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/faster-h2020.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Water1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4971\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>During the activity, the FASTER members presented two different documentaries on <strong>valuing water resources<\/strong> and <strong>climate change<\/strong> to the young students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the screening, the pupils had the opportunity to ask all their questions to the researchers and fulfill their curiosities on the topics presented, which led to some very interesting discussions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The children showed strong engagement and proactivity expressing their ideas and sharing their visions on the aspects of water resources and climate change in their own environment.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide\" style=\"grid-template-columns:19% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"552\" height=\"494\" src=\"https:\/\/faster-h2020.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Water2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4974\"\/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>They discussed together on the importance of water in their lives, and on the actions and changes of behavior they need to take to preserve this precious resource, with some very encouraging learnings and perspectives for the future.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event gathered about 50 participants, including 40 pupils aged between 9 and 11 years and 10 teachers and organizers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color\"><strong>What is the World Water Day ?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p>On the 22nd of March 2020, was celebrated the #WorldWaterDay 2020 to raise awareness on the importance of water.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/fasterh2020\/posts\/2720794881486295\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4967\" src=\"https:\/\/faster-h2020.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/FASTER_H2020-World-Water-Day_Mesa-de-trabajo-1-980x650.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"248\" height=\"165\" srcset=\"https:\/\/faster-h2020.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/FASTER_H2020-World-Water-Day_Mesa-de-trabajo-1-980x650.png 980w, https:\/\/faster-h2020.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/FASTER_H2020-World-Water-Day_Mesa-de-trabajo-1-800x533.png 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 248px) 100vw, 248px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a class=\"profileLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unwater.org\/\" data-hovercard=\"\/ajax\/hovercard\/page.php?id=370578007108&amp;extragetparams=%7B%22eid%22%3A%22ARCw-4CaiK9vk6cgiz28FWz3SVProtgit_k9PZ7yIEry3lrSuzBhFkVmRT3PeDu9L6eSo_H1TW8IjXxS%22%2C%22fref%22%3A%22tag%22%7D\" data-hovercard-prefer-more-content-show=\"1\">UN-Water<\/a> organizes this global awareness day.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s theme, \u2018Water and Climate Change\u2019, explores how water and climate change are inextricably linked, and puts forward the messages that:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_5mfr\"><span class=\"_6qdm\">&#x2705; <\/span><\/span>We cannot afford to wait. Climate policy makers must put water at the heart of action plans.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_5mfr\"><span class=\"_6qdm\">&#x2705;<\/span><\/span> Water can help fight climate change. There are sustainable, affordable and scalable water and sanitation solutions.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_5mfr\"><span class=\"_6qdm\">&#x2705;<\/span><\/span> Everyone has a role to play.
