6th Mediterranean Forest week

Held on a biannual basis, The Sixth Mediterranean Forest week was organised by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations in collaboration with the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture on 1-5 April 2019 in Brummana (Lebanon). The weeklong event brought together a diverse range of participants to consider how Mediterranean forests can assist countries in the region to achieve their goals under the Paris Agreement.
Discussions highlighted the challenges faced by Mediterranean Forests nowadays and promoted as well the use of forest-based solutions. During the first plenary session, Ibtissem Taghouti, a researcher in forest economics at the National research Institute of rural engineering, Water and Forests (INRGREF), presented the FASTER project, its expected impacts and main challenges to be tackled during the next two years.
